Detective Joseph Azcona was investigating illegal gun activity when he was killed

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder in the fatal shooting in Newark on Friday of Detective Joseph Azcona. The teen is also facing charges of attempted murder and illegal weapon possession. The 26-year-old officer was a five-year veteran and part of a special intelligence unit in the Newark Police Department investigating a group suspected of possessing illegal weapons.
