Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipMy name is Jose Adrian Estrada and I'm an immigrant from Mexico.
My family's from Acapulco Guerrero so I know my dad was a mechanic in Mexico.
He migrated over here to give us a better life and my mom followed and that's how our life started here.
It took us four tries.
It wasn't until the fourth time that we crossed at night that's when we actually made it.
We met with my dad.
I saw my dad.
I was happy.
And after like a year of not seeing him but it was a scary experience because the coyotes like pull out a gun just to so to make sure that my dad paid up the rest of the money.
And I was really scared cause I'm like, what was going on?
My mom just told me to be quiet and to stand behind her.
I remember my dad paid up and from there they let us go.
And here I started my journey here.
I love this country and I I just have to contribute to the society and yeah.
