Student learning loss from the pandemic worse than thought

A bill would allow parents to retain their children to catch up on the year they lost.
Black students lost close to 50% of learning in math, and 43% of learning in English during the pandemic. The study, run by JerseyCAN, is meant to launch a statewide conversation about how to close the gaps. Some options include expanding summer learning options and allowing parents to hold kids back a year to make up for time they’ve lost.
