Union members must vote to ratify the contract, which includes pay increases

A potential strike by locomotive engineers at New Jersey Transit appears to have been averted after the agency and the union representing the engineers reached a tentative contract agreement. According to a joint statement released Monday morning, the deal includes wage increases, which have been the primary issue for union members since their contract expired in 2019.
