Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(children laughing) - Welcome to InPACT at Home where we practice interrupting prolonged sitting with activity.
I'm Jamie Chester, and I'm here to help you get moving for the next eight minutes.
You'll be surprised at what these moments of moving can do for you and the rest of your family so you can stay active and healthy at home.
So go ahead, get up and let's start moving.
All right, so our game today is called Up, Down, Stop, Go.
And the way that we are going to play is I'm going to teach you the four different movements that you are going to have to do in this game.
The first one is up.
When I say up, you're gonna put your hands up high and go as high as you can go.
Everyone show me up, great, this is down, you're gonna get down as low as you can get this is down.
So let's practice it down, up, down, up.
The second two movements are, go and stop.
When I say go, you're going to jog in place and when I say stop, you're going to freeze and stay as still as possible.
All right, we're gonna do all four together now, up, down, up, down, go, stop, go, stop, stop, go, go, stop.
All right, we're gonna do a little bit quicker this time.
If you're ready let me see, two thumbs up.
All right, up, down, up, go, down, up, down, up, go, go, keep going, down, up jump as high as you can, up, down, go and stop.
All right, take a deep breath in and out.
Now, we're going to make it a little trickier, all right, so I want you to listen as best as you can and stop and think about what you have to do, so we're gonna do the opposite.
So when I say down, we're going to do the opposite of that and go up.
When I say up, we're going to do the opposite and go down.
When I say stop, the opposite of stop is what go.
So we're going to go when I say stop and then when I say go, we're going to stop.
All right, let's try it all together.
If I trick you and you make a mistake, that's okay good job, nice try.
You can just jump back in the game and try again.
As long you're moving and having fun that's all we wanna do today.
All right, let's do down oh, good job, up, up, up, down, go, stop, stop, go, up, down, down, down, up, stop and go, great job with that round.
Now, we're going to try a different round.
We are going to practice our left and our right and going to the front and the back.
So, when I say move to the left, you're going to move to the left side of your room.
When I say move to the right, you're going to move to your right side.
When I say back, you're gonna take a step or you can even try a little jump back.
And then when I say front, you're going to just take a step or a little jump to the front.
All right, if you're ready to play, put your hands on your head.
If you're ready to play this round put your hands on your shoulders.
Let's try it out.
Move to your right, move to your left, move to your right, move to your left, move to the front, move to the back, move to the back, move to the right, move to the left and back to the beginning.
All right, this time we're going to do opposites.
So when I say left, you're going to go to the right, when I say right, you're going to go to the left, when I say back, you're gonna move to the front, when I say front, we're going to move to the back.
And again, if you make a mistake, we'll like to say, good job nice try.
So let's try it out start in your middle spot, all right.
So let's try out the opposites.
Move to your right, move to your left, move to your right, Move to the back, move to the front, move to the front, move to the right, move to the left, move to the right, move to the front.
Oh, I almost got mixed up there.
Move to the front, stay right here.
Move to the back, move to the right, move to the left, move to the back, move to the back.
Oh, I try to trick you.
Move to the front, move back to the beginning.
All right, great job, everyone, let's give ourselves a round of applause.
All right, before we cool down, let's reach down our toes, reach up high to the ceiling, wiggle those fingers up high, all right.
And to cool it down we're going to give ourselves a deep breath.
So we're going to pretend that our living room is a field of flowers and you can walk around the field anywhere you'd like pick up your favorite flower.
I really like daisies, so, I'm gonna pretend my flowers are daisy, and I'm going to take a deep breath in and then blow off the petals and you can close your eyes if you want to too.
So, you're gonna smell that flower and then blow off the petals.
All right, thanks everyone for playing, since we did such a great job with our game, Up, Down, Stop, Go.
We're going to give ourselves a beautiful clap.
So, on the count of three, we're gonna clap and then make a rainbow with our hands and say, beautiful.
Let's do it together, one, two, three.
(clapping) Beautiful.
I hope you enjoy today's movement break.
