In the second-largest bank failure in U.S. history, First Republic Bank has been seized by federal regulators and sold to JPMorgan Chase & Co. in a deal announced early Monday morning. This is the third major U.S. bank to go under in less than two months. First Republic had reported losing about 40% of its deposits during the first quarter of this year.
